Configure Issue Creation

Issue-tracking integrations can create external issues from Hawzu defects. During setup, Hawzu asks for default values so new external issues are created in the right project, repository, or team.
Supported Issue Tools
Section titled “Supported Issue Tools”Issue creation settings are available for:
Slack is used for notifications and does not use issue creation defaults.
For Jira, choose:
- Default Jira Project
- Default Issue Type
Hawzu loads issue types after a Jira project is selected.
GitHub Issues
Section titled “GitHub Issues”For GitHub Issues, choose:
- Default Repository
- Default Labels when available
The repository controls where Hawzu creates external GitHub issues from defects.
GitLab Issues
Section titled “GitLab Issues”For GitLab Issues, choose:
- Default GitLab Project
- Default Labels when available
The project controls where Hawzu creates external GitLab issues from defects.
Azure DevOps
Section titled “Azure DevOps”For Azure DevOps, choose:
- Default Project
- Default Work Item Type
Hawzu loads work item types after a project is selected.
Linear
Section titled “Linear”For Linear, choose:
- Default Team
- Default State when available
Linear setup can also use mappings so Hawzu defect values align with Linear issue values where the product exposes those choices.
How Defaults Are Used
Section titled “How Defaults Are Used”When users create an external issue from a Hawzu defect, these defaults preselect the external destination and issue style. Users may still need to provide tool-specific fields shown during defect creation.
Keep defaults aligned with the project scope of the integration.
