Every audit log entry references the item it acted on. Instead of leaving Audit Logs to piece an item’s story together, you can open a full timeline for a referenced item in a side panel — without losing your place.
Open a Timeline
Section titled “Open a Timeline”-
Open Audit Logs and select an entry to view its details.
-
Find a reference such as Requirement, Test Case, Defect, Custom Field, Group, or User.
-
Select the highlighted reference ID. A timeline opens in a side panel.
References that can’t open a timeline — for example a workspace or project ID — appear as plain text.
Two Kinds of Timelines
Section titled “Two Kinds of Timelines”The panel shows one of two timelines, depending on the item.
Change history
Section titled “Change history”A field-level history of the item — every change with its before and after values. Available for:
- Test Cases
- Requirements
- Releases
- Defects
- Executions
- Test Runs
Activity
Section titled “Activity”A timeline of audit events for the item. Available for items that don’t keep a field-level history:
- Custom Fields
- Groups
- Labels
- Users
- Projects
- Shared Steps
- Parameters
What the Timeline Shows
Section titled “What the Timeline Shows”Both timelines group events by date — Today, Yesterday, and older — and show, for each event:
- The person who performed the action, with their avatar. Hover over a name to see their profile card.
- A short summary of what happened.
- The time, relative to now. Hover to see the exact date and time.
- The change itself, inline:
- Before → after values for edited fields.
- Added and removed members, with additions and removals clearly marked.
- Readable names for related projects, roles, and groups — instead of raw IDs.
Use Refresh in the panel to reload the latest events.
Open the Item
Section titled “Open the Item”To jump to the item itself, select the Open link — for example Open requirement or Open group — from the audit log details header, or at the top of the timeline panel. The item opens on its own page in a new tab, so your audit log view stays open.
On Smaller Screens
Section titled “On Smaller Screens”On smaller screens the audit log details already open in a side panel. Selecting a reference there opens the timeline on top of it; closing the timeline returns you to the details.
