#Managing Observatory Charts - Edit & Delete

#Viewing Charts

In Panel Dashboard:

• Charts are displayed in a grid layout
• Click on a chart to view it
• Charts are interactive and can be explored

Chart Actions:

• Fullscreen: View chart in fullscreen mode
• Edit: Modify chart title or type
• Delete: Remove chart from panel

#Editing Charts

To edit a chart:

1. Open the panel dashboard
2. Click on a chart’s actions menu
3. Select Edit
4. Modify:
   • Chart title
   • Chart type (if compatible with current axes)
5. Click Update Chart to save

Note: Chart type can only be changed to types supported by the current data source and axes combination.

#Deleting Charts

To delete a chart:

1. Open the panel dashboard
2. Click on a chart’s actions menu
3. Select Delete
4. Confirm deletion

Warning: Deleting a chart removes it permanently. This action cannot be undone.

#Requesting Custom Charts

#Request Chart Feature

If you need a chart that’s not available:

1. Click Request Chart in the chart selector
2. Describe what you need:
   • Data source
   • Metrics to visualize
   • Chart type preference
   • Use case
3. Submit the request

Example Request: “Show me defects by priority over time with trend analysis. I need a line chart showing defect counts by priority across releases.”

1. Start with Smart Insights: Use templates for common needs
2. Use Custom Builder: For specific requirements
3. Choose Appropriate Types: Match chart type to data
4. Clear Titles: Use descriptive chart titles

#Chart Organization

1. Group Related Charts: Place related charts in same panel
2. Limit Charts per Panel: Keep panels focused (5-10 charts)
3. Update Regularly: Keep charts current with latest data
4. Remove Unused Charts: Delete charts that are no longer needed

#Chart Usage

1. Monitor Trends: Use charts to track trends over time
2. Identify Patterns: Look for patterns and anomalies
3. Share Insights: Share panel links with team members
4. Regular Review: Review charts periodically for relevance

#Permissions

Chart management requires:

• View Observatory: View charts in panels
• Create Charts: Add charts to panels
• Edit Charts: Modify chart configuration
• Delete Charts: Remove charts

Permissions are managed at the project level. Contact your project administrator if you need additional permissions.
